Polk County Middle’s Chris Wilmoth was one of three Wolverines to earn wins by pin on Monday

The turnaround story that is Polk County Middle wrestling this season gained a new chapter Monday.

Perhaps most accurate to label it Strength In Numbers.

The Wolverines filled every weight class and used that advantage to defeat Bethel Middle, 60-48, in a Blue Ridge Conference match at Polk.

The win lifts Polk Middle to 4-3 on the season, a climb above the .500 mark that hasn’t happened in quite a while.

“A very, very long time,” said Polk Middle head coach Jerry Cox.

Polk Middle won seven matches via forfeit, then got key pins on the mat from Topher Pearson, Chris Wilmoth and Jacob Ed to secure enough points for the win.

The Wolverines return to the mat on Thursday, traveling to Apple Valley to face the undefeated Knights. The match will begin at 4:30 p.m.
