Polk County’s wrestling team finished second at Saturday’s Ugly Sweater Duals at Travelers Rest High School, winning four of five matches to improve to 21-2 in dual matches this season.
The Wolverines defeated Greeneville (Tenn.) 49-20, Indian Land (S.C.) 45-36, Dorman 48-20 and Lexington (S.C.) 51-20 before falling to host Travelers Rest 54-18 in the championship match.
Zalen McCraw (175) went 5-0 on the day with four pins and one decision. Styler Blackwell (190) also finished 5-0 with four pins and one medical forfeit win. Isaiah Staley (215), Liam Jackson (126), Amon Villarreal (132) finished 4-1.
Polk County is back in action beginning Friday at the Elizabeth Barry Memorial Clash at the Creek tourney at Mallard Creek High School.
