Polk wrestlers continue early-season work at North Knight Invitational

Polk County’s wrestling squad continued its early-season action on Wednesday, competing in the North Knight Invitational at North Henderson High School in Hendersonville.

Fielding seven wrestlers in the varsity class, the Wolverines placed 10th in the 19-team field. Pisgah squeaked past North Henderson to claim the team title, with Byrnes finishing third.

Bryson McCraw led Polk County’s varsity group, reaching the championship match before falling to Asher Fink of Byrnes. Polk’s Collier Foster and Jacon Knighton each placed third in their weight classes.

In the junior varsity division, Logan Rhodes and Jaydyn Virgil each won their classes, with Banks Barber, Dakota Ridings and Chris Wilmoth placing second.

Polk County will next be in action on Dec. 1, hosting Madison and Cherryville in a non-conference tri-match.
