Polk County’s wrestling team won one of two matches Tuesday at North Lincoln, topping the host Knights before falling to Trinity in its first dual match loss of the season.
The Wolverines defeated North Lincoln 67-12 before falling to Trinity 42-30 in a matchup of two of the state’s top 3A programs. Polk is now 10-1 in dual matches.
Against North Lincoln, Polk County won 11 of 14 matches. Liam Jackson (126), Conner Ahlert (138), Jaxtyn Virgil (144), Alex Labreche (150), Zachary McCraw (165), Zalen McCraw (175), Isaiah Staley (190) and Styler Blackwell (215) each earned pins. Amon Villarreal (132) and Brody Wolfe (157) won by technical fall, Tanner McKinney (285) claimed a 4-1 decision and Silas Amorelli (106) won by forfeit.

Against Trinity, Polk County won six matches. Amon Villarreal (132) edged Edgar Vasquez 3-2, Brody Wolfe (150) defeated Simeon Hammett 7-2, and Alex Labreche (157) won by forfeit. Zalen McCraw (175), Styler Blackwell (190) and Isaiah Staley (215) each earned pins.
Polk County is next in action Friday in the Hilltopper Havoc tournament at R-S Central.
