Polk County has received the third seed in the 3A West Regional and will host Surry Central in the opening round of the state 3A dual team playoffs.
Per brackets released Friday by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, the Wolverines (31-5) will host Surry Central (10-11) as well as North Wilkes vs. Hendersonville match on Tuesday, weather permitting. The two winners will then wrestle for the chance to advance to Thursday’s third round.
North Wilkes is the sixth seed in the 3A West field while Hendersonville is seeded 11th.

Lincolnton and Mount Airy landed the top two seeds in the West bracket, with West Wilkes the fourth seed.
Surry Central is led by senior Jose Trejo (39-0), the state’s top-ranked wrestler in the 120-pound class. Junior Blake Collins (36-3) is ranked second at 157 pounds.
Undefeated Trinity is the top seed in the 3A East bracket.
