Polk County has received the fifth seed in the 1A West Dual Team Wrestling Championships bracket and will wrestle Rosman in Saturday’s opening round at Alleghany High School.
Alleghany earned the fourth seed in the West and will host the four-team pool. The Trojans will wrestle Draughn, with the winner facing the Polk-Rosman winner. The matches will begin at 5 p.m.
Rosman, the 12th seed, enters with a 6-10 record in dual team matches. The Tigers are led by 138-pounder Koen Kiser and 126-pounder Kreed Smith.
Alleghany enters with a 24-8 record in dual matches. The Trojans are led by 132-pound freshman Carson Worrick (47-4), 157-pound senior Isaac Stoker (46-3) and 150-pound sophomore Alexis Nuevo (38-12).
Polk County’s last dual team appearance came in 2020, when the Wolverines lost to Mount Airy in the opening round of the 1A playoffs.
