Polk County Middle made quick work Monday of its final regular-season home wrestling match.
The Wolverines needed less than 30 minutes to score a 76-30 victory over Hendersonville Middle, racking up seven wins via forfeit en route to the win.
Polk Middle improved to 5-3 with the triumph. The Wolverines travel Thursday to Flat Rock before concluding their regular season on Monday at Rugby.
The win showcased the dynamic that has powered the Wolverines throughout the season, getting a mix of contributions from the young and old on the roster.
“Our six eighth graders were all in the lineup today,” said Polk Middle head coach Jerry Cox. “Jacob Ed is now 8-0, Shatter Johnson has only lost twice. We had five sixth graders in the lineup who were 4-1 today.
“We have four sixth graders who are undefeated or have winning records. We’ve never had that at Polk County Middle. When you have the combination of eighth graders that are contributing and sixth graders that are contributing, it makes for a pretty good season.”
Polk Middle received wins by pin from Brody Wolfe, Carson Bell, Turner Loveland, Johnsson and Zalen McCraw. Styler Blackwell added a domainant 17-1 victory by technical fall.
