Lately, you can count on all of those things happening each December.
The Wolverines, three-time defending East champions, took over sole possession of the division lead Thursday in the quest for a fourth, downing Flat Rock 76-27 in a home conference match.

Polk Middle still has two matches left on its first pass through the East, hosting Brevard Middle on Monday and then traveling next Thursday to Rugby Middle. But with the rest of the East taking turns topping one another, the Wolverines (7-0, 3-0) already own the only perfect division record, assuring that with Thursday’s defeat of the Eagles (3-2, 2-1).
There wasn’t much in the way of drama. Polk won the afternoon’s first five matches, then reeled off five more victories to build a 58-6 lead. Flat Rock rallied late with wins in four of the final seven matches, but the day’s outcome was long settled by that point.
The Wolverines will square off with Brevard on Monday beginning at 4:30 p.m.
