Polk County Middle’s wrestling team stepped out of Blue Ridge Conference play on Tuesday and picked up a pair of victories.
The Wolverines emerged from a tri-match at R-S Central Middle with a pair of victories, defeating the host Hilltoppers 58-36 and Thomas Jefferson Classical 84-18.
Sparking Polk Middle’s win over R-S Middle was Liam Jackson, who fought off a near-fall in his 98-pound match for more than a minute, finally escaping the hold and eventually winning his match by pin.

The Wolverines won every match from 145 to 220 pounds to secure the win.
“It feels good to go into the break without a loss,” said Polk Middle head coach Jerry Cox. “We’re still not hitting on all cylinders, so it makes me excited for what’s to come.”
The 3-0 Wolverines will return to action on Tuesday, traveling to Smoky Mountain Middle for a BRC match.
