Polk County Middle School’s wrestling team remained unbeaten Monday, defeating Canton Middle 83-24 in a Blue Ridge Conference match.
The Wolverines improved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference. Canton Middle fell to 0-1 in league play.
Polk County Middle won 14 of 18 matches, claiming six victories by forfeit. Tiernan Hanna, Eric Ramirez, Josh Odel, Rhys Jackson, Boaz Wilson, Oakley McDowell and James Logan each earned pins for the Wolverines. Jax Gosnell posted a technical fall over Canton’s C. Hannah at 132 pounds.

Polk County Middle head coach Jerry Cox said the team continues to develop as the season progresses.
“We have some younger kids that are starting to find their footing under them in middle school,” Cox said. “Our main concern is winning big-time matches at the end of January and early February. So we’re just focusing each day, each practice, each match getting a little bit better and we did that tonight.”
Polk County Middle travels to Madison Middle on Thursday.
