Polk County wrestlers defeat Crest, drop narrow decision to East Lincoln

Polk County earned its first wrestling win of the season Tuesday night, knocking off Crest 40-24 in a non-conference tri-meet at Crest.

Polk County dropped the second of its two matches, 36-27, to East Lincoln.

The Wolverines picked up four straight wins in the middle classes and three straight in the upper weights to earn the victory. Chase Emory scored a major decision at 132 before Dustin Calvert at 138, Anthony Marino at 145 and Franklin Sandoval at 52 each recorded pins.

Ryan Badger added a pin at 170, and Jerry Cox earned an 8-6 decision over Elmore Raurk in overtime at 195. Marquise Lipscomb at 220 followed with another overtime decision, winning 5-3 over Michael Morton, before Chase McMurray won the heavyweight class by forfeit.

Emory and Calvert also won their matches against East Lincoln, by by and 10-7 decision, respectively, as did Sandoval, who scored a 13-8 win. Cox won by pin at 195, Lipscomb scored a 7-4 decision at 220 and McMurray pinned Alexander Rudolph.

The Wolverines return to action Saturday at the EHHS Duals at East Henderson.
