Polk County dominated the competition at the Hilltopper Havoc wrestling tournament Friday at R-S Central High School, winning all four dual matches to claim the team title and improve to 14-1 on the season.
The Wolverines opened with a 47-29 victory over Madison, then rolled past McDowell 59-15 and East Gaston 59-24 before closing with a 45-28 win over host R-S Central in the championship match.
Several Polk County wrestlers went undefeated on the night. Brody Wolfe won all four of his matches at 150 pounds by pin, with none of his opponents lasting more than 80 seconds. Zalen McCraw was equally dominant at 175, recording three pins and a technical fall while spending less than four combined minutes on the mat.

Styler Blackwell continued his strong season at 190 pounds, collecting three pins and a forfeit win. His fastest finish came against Madison’s Hunter Martin in just 33 seconds.
Amon Villarreal proved versatile at 126 and 132 pounds, posting two pins, a technical fall and a decision across his four matches. Jaxtyn Virgil added three pins at 144 pounds, including a 52-second victory against Madison.
In the Hilltopper Havoc women’s individual tournament, Polk County’s Grace Settles claimed the championship at 114 pounds. Settles pinned all three of her opponents, defeating T.C. Roberson’s Natalie Rice in 5:21, Spartanburg’s Alivia Rundgren in 2:38 and Madison’s Sophia VanBumble in 2:31 in the final.
Polk County returns to action Wednesday in a quad match at Lincolnton.
