PCHS, PCMS wrestlers sparkle at App State team camp

Wrestlers from Polk County High School and Polk County Middle School recently took part in team camps at Appalachian State Summer Wrestling Camp.

The Wolverine high school squad finished 7-0-1 for the week, winning a bronze medal in Division II while placing behind Gaffney, S.C. and Coalfield, W.Va.

Polk Middle wrestlers finished 7-1 for the week, only falling to Northwest Guilford. The middle school team finished tied for first with Northwest Guilford and Johnson Central, but wound up third based on tiebreaking criteria.

The middle school squad also had several wrestlers compete in an individual tournament to close the camp, with five wrestlers placing in the top four in their classes:

  • Styler Blackwell, first, 4-0
  • Conner Ahlert, second, 3-1
  • Chester Wilson, second, 2-1
  • Brody Wolfe, third, 3-1
  • Efrain Rivera, fourth, 2-2

Blackwell finished 12-0 for the week, with Ahlert finishing 11-1.
