McCraw receives wrestling state championship ring

To the champion goes the spoils.

During a Tuesday morning pep rally in Polk County’s gym, Wolverine senior Zalen McCraw received the state championship ring he earned with his victory in February at the state 3A tournament.

Capping a 56-1 season, McCraw became just the fourth state champion in school history with his dramatic third-period pin of Lincolnton’s Jay Mills. McCraw joined Jim Ollis, Austin Ollis and Tyler Philpott on the elite list of Wolverine state winners.

And now he has the ring to go with his crown.
