Polk County's Charlie Jackson scored a key win in Friday's victory over Owen

Polk County made the most of its mat time Friday.

A match dominated by forfeits tipped the Wolverines’ way thanks to a pair of key wins, those enabling Polk to hand Owen a 33-30 defeat in Western Highlands Conference action.

Only four matches were wrestled as Polk County (8-8, 4-2) picked up four forfeit wins. One of those matches came at 152 pounds, where Bryson McCraw won an action-paced 23-16 decision over Kameron Moore.

The match-clinching points came at 195 pounds, where freshman Charlie Jackson pinned Jason Dash. Dash had early control of the match, but with Dash working to flip Jackson onto his back, the Wolverine was able to quickly roll over Dash, gaining the upper hand and quickly scoring the fall.

Those points proved crucial in determining the final outcome.

Polk County is slated to return to action on Tuesday with a tri-match, facing WHC leader Avery and West Henderson in a non-conference matchup.
