Polk County's Collier Foster earned the program's first Mountain Foothills 7 Conference championship on Saturday

Collier Foster secured a spot Saturday in Polk County wrestling history.

Foster became the program’s first Mountain Foothills 7 Conference champion, winning the 132-pound class at the conference’s postseason tournament at Hendersonville.

Foster scored a 13-8 decision over R-S Central’s Caleb Cox in the championship match. He had a 10-1 major decision over Brevard’s Max Bailey in the semifinals after receiving a first-round bye.

Two other Wolverines earned medals with top-three showings at the tourney. Banks Barber placed third at 120 pounds while Dakota Ridings placed third at 195 pounds.

The Wolverines finished sixth in the team standings. R-S Central won the conference tournament, with Chase in second place.

Polk County will conclude its regular season on Tuesday, traveling to Patton for a quad match with other conference teams. The Wolverines will then turn their focus to the 2A West Regional, set for Feb. 11-12 at West Lincoln High School.
