Polk County’s Collier Foster won the 120-pound class at Saturday’s tourney

Polk County’s Collier Foster and Preston Burnett each won titles Saturday at the East Rutherford Fastway Challenge wrestling tournament in Forest City.

Foster captured the 120-pound weight class and Burnett took top honors at 132 for the Wolverines. Polk also received a third-place finish from Satchel McCoy in the 126-pound class.

Still missing a number of starters who have been competing with Polk County’s football team, the Wolverines tied A.C. Reynolds for sixth in the team standings. R-S Central won the team title, with Boiling Springs and East Gaston rounding out the top three.

Foster defeated Boiling Springs’ Rilee Douglas by pin and then decisioned Hendersonville’s Jack Miller 5-3 to claim his weight class. Burnett pinned Hendersonville’s Jajuan Givens and then decisioned Boiling Springs’ Ethan Westall 5-0 to take the win at 132 pounds.

McCoy lost to Chase’s Hunter McCoy in his first match, but the rolled through the consolation bracket, winning an 8-2 decision over Boiling Springs’ Juan Zorilla and then pinning A.C. Reynolds’ Anthony Triplett and East Rutherford’s Clayton Wright.

Also competing Saturday for the Wolverines were:

145: Bryson McCraw finished 1-2, pinning Chase’s Dylan Greene for his victory before being eliminated in the consolation semifinals

152: Malakye Chavez finished 1-2, pinning Chase’s Charles Head in his first match, but falling to East Gaston’s Todd Carlson in the semifinals

160: Jack Jennings finished 90-2

182: Bryan Tuffill finished 0-2

195: Nathan Ruff finished 0-2

Polk County is slated to compete Wednesday in the North Knight Invitational and Lady Knight Invitational at North Henderson.
