Emory toppled in final national high school tourney match

Polk County’s Chase Emory was eliminated Saturday in the consolation round of the 26th annual NHSCA National High School Wrestling Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.

Wrestling in the 138-pound class in the Sophomores Division, Emory dropped a 5-1 decision to Dominic Hink of Mount Olive (N.J.) High School.

Emory’s opponent on Friday, Parker Filius of Montana, reached the semifinals of the event before being defeated.

The NHSCA tourney included wrestlers from around the country, most of whom placed at their respective state tournaments. Emory finished sixth at this year’s North Carolina state championship.
