Emory drops first match at national high school wrestling tourney

Polk County sophomore Chase Emory dropped his first match Friday at the 26th annual NHSCA National High School Wrestling Championships in Virginia Beach, Va.

Competing in the Sophomores Division 138-pound weight class, Emory lost to Parker Filius of Havre, Mont. Filius, a two-time Montana state champion, won the match by pin.

Emory is next scheduled to wrestle Dominic Hink of Mount Olive (N.J.) High School. Hink suffered a 12-3 major decision loss in his first match.

Almost 70 wrestlers from around the country are competing in the 138-pound sophomores class at the event. Cherokee’s Anthony Toineeta is also in the field and lost his first match of the day
