Emory to face Jacksonville wrestler in first round of state 2A tournament

Polk County sophomore Chase Emory will begin action Thursday in the state 2A wrestling tournament by facing Northside (Jacksonville)’s Douglas Bulla in a 138-pound weight class match.

Bulla placed third in the 2A East Regional and brings a 43-5 record into the match. Emory, who placed second in the 2A West Regional, is 38-8 this season.

Sixteen wrestlers will compete in the 2A meet, which begins Thursday at 8 p.m. with the first round. Action resumes Friday, with championship matches set for Saturday afternoon. All matches will be held in Greensboro Coliseum.
