Big day for Polk wrestling with three wins at East Henderson Duals

Saturday proved to be a most successful day for Polk County’s wrestling squad, which won all three of its matches at the East Henderson Duals.

The Wolverines defeated rival Landrum, 37-27, topped Cherokee, 45-27 and nipped host East Henderson 37-33.

Freshman Chase Emory continued his early-season success, winning all three of his matches in the 132-pound class. Franklin Sandoval also earned three wins in the 152-pound class. Four other Polk wrestlers – Gabe O’Brien at 120, Gabe Lail at 182, Jerry Cox at 195 and D.J. Twitty at 285 – won three matches, including forfeits.

Polk County has now won four of its last five matches. The Wolverines host Landrum and Smoky Mountain on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
