Polk County's Ada Kelley takes aim for one of her five kills during Thursday's match

Now, Polk County can turn its focus to Brevard.

The Wolverines tuned up for next week’s matchup of Mountain Foothills 7 Conference leaders with a 3-0 win Thursday over East Rutherford at Polk.

The Wolverines won 25-11, 25-8, 25-22, picking up their 10th straight win and improving to 12-1 overall, 5-0 in MF7 matches. Brevard is also 5-0 in league play entering the matchup between the two teams on Tuesday at Polk.

The Wolverines had little trouble in the first two sets Thursday, but East Rutherford (9-6, 2-4) opened a 5-0 lead in the third set and kept the advantage through much of the set. Polk finally rallied late in the set and inched ahead for the win.

The Cavaliers had little answer in the middle for Morgan Yoder, who finished with 11 kills and also had four aces. Elena Carroll had seven kills while Sophia Overholt had six kills and a team-high 14 digs.

Ada Kelley added five kills, with Zaeler Eller delivering 16 assists and six digs and Amberlyn Scruggs recording 15 assists and four digs. Elysia Smith also had five kills and two blocks.

Ella Waldman had four assists to go with 11 digs while Lisa Jones had seven digs.
