Polk County Middle's Sidney Carroll

Polk County Middle scored another win Wednesday, going on the road to defeat Hendersonville Middle in Blue Ridge Conference volleyball action.

The Wolverines improved to 2-0 with a 25-15, 25-13 victory. Polk Middle is slated to be back at home on Monday against Flat Rock.

Hendersonville Middle (0-2) grabbed a 6-2 lead early in the first set of Wednesday’s match, but the Wolverines quickly responded, evening the match at 6-6 on a Charley Dusenbury ace. With Kaylynne Holbert and Mia Bradley serving, Polk Middle put together a run to grab an 18-10 lead, and the Bearcats got no closer than five points the rest of the set.

“The environment definitely took us some time to get used to,” said Polk Middle head coach Kenny Hall. “One thing we will have to work on is creating our own energy when playing on the road.

“However, it was another good win for our girls. Kylie Lewis and Mia Bradley led the way for us today.”

Kills from Lewis and Sidney Carroll helped push Polk Middle to a 9-3 lead in the second set. The Wolverines never let the lead drop below five the rest of the set, closing out the match on a Lewis kill.
