Polk County began a season of high expectations with a 3-0 sweep of Tuscola in non-conference volleyball play Monday evening in Waynesville.
The Wolverines opened their 2019 schedule with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-15 victory. Polk County returns all but two players from its 2018 1A Western Regional championship team.
Grace Lauer had 10 kills and seven digs, with Marilyn Castillo notching eight kills and seven digs and Kristen Hall finishing with seven kills and 14 digs. Mireya Roman added five kills.
Sydney Waldman had 26 assists and nine digs while Carolina Castillo had 17 digs and Rollins Carter had 12 digs.
The Wolverines are back in action on Tuesday, traveling to face Asheville Christian Academy.
