Sophia Overholt had a double-double in Tuesday's win with 11 kills and 13 digs

A school record and a conference title – not a bad road trip Tuesday for Polk County’s volleyball program.

The Wolverines secured at least a share of the Mountain Foothills 7 Conference regular-season championship with a 3-0 victory at East Rutherford, sweeping the Cavaliers 25-14, 25-12, 25-15.

Polk County (19-1, 11-0) won its 17th straight match, equalling the record set by the 2017 squad. The Wolverines can break the mark Wednesday in their non-conference match at Enka.

Polk will then travel Thursday to Brevard for a huge regular-season finale. The Wolverines would win the MF7 title outright with a win or share the title with the Blue Devils with a loss.

Sophia Overholt had 11 kills and 13 digs in Tuesday’s win, with Morgan Yoder recording eight kills. Elena Carroll had six kills and eight digs and Lexi Beiler, joining the varsity for injured junior Ada Kelley, had five kills.

Mia Bradley also finished with five kills while Amberlyn Scruggs had 15 assists and four digs. Zaelea Eller added 14 assists and seven digs while Ella Waldman recorded 15 digs.

Wednesday’s non-conference matches at Enka are slated to be aired live on NFHS Network.
