Wolverines cruise to sweep of Madison in league opener

Polk County opened Western Highlands Conference play Tuesday with an easy three-set defeat of Madison.

The Wolverines thrilled a home crowd with a 25-5, 25-7, 25-8 victory, improving to 8-2 overall, 1-0 in league play. Madison dropped to 0-3, 0-1.

Mireya Roman had six kills and Grace Lauer had five in a balanced attack for the Wolverines. Sydney Waldman had 17 assists and four digs, with Emmie McDowell adding four assists and two aces.

Carolina Castillo had seven digs, with Rollins Carter adding four.

Polk County continues WHC play on Thursday, traveling to Owen.
