Wolverines continue WHC roll, sweep past Mitchell

Polk County took another step Tuesday toward a Western Highlands Conference championship, sweeping Mitchell in a WHC volleyball match in Bakersville.

The Wolverines notched a 25-4, 25-9, 25-13 victory, improving their record to 13-4 overall, 9-0 in WHC play.

Ashley Love had six kills and three blocks, with Reagan Waddell posting seven kills and two aces. Addie Lynch had five kills and three aces, Cameron Capozzi had four kills, Kendall Hall had six kills, Lauren Ketwitz had 15 digs, Georgia Garrett had 14 assists and two aces and Savannah Ross had 11 assists, eight digs and three kills.

Mitchell dropped to 2-7, 1-7 with the loss.

Polk County returns home Thursday to host Avery, varsity play set to begin at 5:30 p.m.
