Polk County turned a five-point deficit into a dramatic victory Thursday night, rallying from 21-16 down in the third set to complete a 3-0 sweep of Madison in Western Highlands Conference action.
The Wolverines won 25-14, 25-13, 33-31 to improve to 12-10 overall and 8-2 in conference play. Madison fell to 8-11 overall and 3-7 in the Western Highlands Conference.
The decisive third set provided the night’s most compelling drama. After dropping the first two sets, the Patriots appeared poised to extend the match when they built a 21-16 advantage. But Polk County clawed back, eventually winning the marathon set 33-31 to secure the sweep.

Akeela Cunningham delivered a dominant performance for the Wolverines, recording a match-high 16 kills while adding 12 digs, three aces and a block. Reeve Carroll provided a well-rounded effort with 11 kills, 13 digs, one ace and two assists.
Charley Dusenbury led the Wolverines’ offense with 20 assists while contributing five kills and nine digs. Abby Lewis added 11 assists, 10 digs, three kills and two aces, while Aslyn Scruggs excelled defensively with eight digs and contributed three aces.
Polk County’s Molly Hill coached her 300th career match in the win. Hill is now 227-73 in her 12 seasons at Polk County.
The Wolverines travel Monday to face Asheville Christian Academy as the season enters its final stretch.
