Wolverine volleyball sweeps past Trailblazers, improves to 8-3

Polk County tuned up Monday for its return to Western Highlands Conference play, rolling past the WNC Trailblazers in non-conference volleyball action at Polk.

The Wolverines notched a 25-12, 25-13, 25-15 win, improving to 8-3 ahead of Tuesday’s home conference game with Owen. Polk County currently shares the WHC lead with Hendersonville, with Owen in last place in the league standings entering the game.

The Polk County junior varsity also was victorious, posting a 25-10, 29-27 win.

For the Polk varsity, Sarah Phipps had 12 kills and eight digs, with Lily Owens adding six kills, 19 digs and three aces. Ashley Love had five kills and three digs, with Addie Lynch adding four kills.

Kara Overholt recorded 32 assists to go with her eight digs and six aces. Kendall Hall had 28 digs and Savannah Ross had seven digs.
