Wolverine JVs topple Lions in straight-set triumph

Polk County captured a hard-fought 2-0 win Monday over visiting Asheville Christian in a non-conference volleyball match.

The Wolverines downed the Lions 25-20, 25-21 to improve to 16-6. Polk County ends its season Tuesday, hosting Madison in a Western Highlands Conference clash. Polk will be looking to complete a perfect WHC record with a win.

Rachael Davis had six kills and eight digs for Polk County, with Belen Akers adding six kills and five digs. Kaylin Jenkins had four kills, three aces and two digs while Rollins Carter finished with 15 digs and Emmie McDowell recorded six assists and five digs.

Monday’s win came on the heels of Polk’s 25-21, 25-13 victory over Mountain Heritage last week. Akers had six kills for Polk in that win, with Davis adding five kills and nine digs.

Carter had 12 digs while McDowell had 15 assists, 10 digs and five aces.
