Polk County's Louisa Wood had four kills in Thursday's win

Polk County’s junior varsity endured another three-set match Thursday and once again hung on to take a 2-1 win over R-S Central in Rutherfordton.

The Wolverines claimed a 25-17, 24-26, 15-11 victory. That improves their record to 11-7 overall and 8-1 in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference matches. Three of the team’s last four matches have been three-set victories.

Junie Mitchell had 15 digs and six aces to lead Polk’s effort, with Mahaley Wilson delivering five kills and Louisa Wood adding four kills. Riyah Schroyer had three kills and five digs.

Aslyn Scruggs had 13 assists, three aces and seven digs, with Chayse Hagins adding five digs.

Polk County returns to the court on Monday, hosting Asheville Christian Academy in a match set to begin at 4:30 p.m.
