Once again, Polk County is the Western Highlands Conference volleyball champion.
The Wolverines clinched their sixth straight WHC title on Thursday, sweeping Avery 3-0 in a conference match in Newland.
The 25-14, 25-16, 25-17 win, combined with Mountain Heritage’s loss at Owen, gives Polk County (17-3, 8-0) a three-game lead over the Cougars with just two conference games remaining. The Wolverines have won at least a share of the WHC title in each of Molly Hill’s six seasons as head coach.
Marilyn Castillo had 12 kills and four digs for Polk, with Grace Lauer recording eight kills and four digs. Mireya Roman had six kills.
Carolina Castillo had 12 digs, with Sydney Waldman notching 32 assists and nine digs.
