Polk County Middle’s volleyball season came to an end Wednesday with a loss to Waynesville Middle in the opening round of the Blue Ridge Conference tournament.
The Mountaineers took a 25-22, 25-12 victory to advance to a semifinal matchup with Brevard Middle. Polk County’s season ended with an 8-5 record.
After earning the narrow first-set win, the Mountaineers reeled off eight straight points early in the second set, then closed with a streak of 13 unanswered points to seal the match.
