Waldman earns WHC Player of the Year, Hill named league’s top coach

Polk County senior Sydney Waldman has been named the Western Highlands Conference Player of the Year, with head volleyball coach Molly Hill named the conference’s Coach of the Year.

The Wolverines’ setter, Waldman helped lead Polk County to a 21-5 record and the third round of the state 1A playoffs, finishing the season with 749 assists. She finished her career with 1,958 assists.

Hill was honored after leading Polk County to the WHC regular-season title and an undefeated record in conference play. The Wolverines dropped just one set in league matches this season.

Five other Wolverines were named to the All-Western Highlands Conference squad: Marilyn Castillo, Mireya Roman, Kristen Hall, Carolina Castillo and Grace Lauer.
