Owen remained undefeated Thursday evening, but not before Polk County made the Warhorses work in a 3-1 victory in the Western Highlands Conference opener for both teams.
The Wolverines (3-3, 0-1) struck first, claiming the opening set 25-16 – the first set Owen has dropped all season. But the Warhorses (6-0, 1-0) responded forcefully, winning the next three sets 25-15, 25-20, 25-16 to secure the victory.
The loss marked Polk County’s first back-to-back defeats since 2021, coming on the heels of Wednesday’s loss to Asheville Christian Academy.
