Quick third-set start lifts Polk JVs past Hendersonville

Polk County stormed to a 9-2 third-set lead Tuesday en route to a 2-1 victory over Hendersonville in Mountain Foothills 7 Conference junior varsity volleyball action at Polk.

The Wolverines scored a 25-22, 19-25, 15-5 win, improving to 9-6 overall and 7-1 in league matches. Polk County hosts R-S Central on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.

The two teams were tied 2-2 in the deciding third set when Jill Brown served seven straight points, driving the Wolverines to their seven-point advantage. Up 14-5, Polk closed the match as Abby Lewis’ tip at the net was not returned.

Brown had eight kills and three aces for Polk, with Elena Greve adding seven. Lewis finished with 18 assists, 11 digs and three kills.

Olivia Kirk had nine digs, Claire Lawrence had seven digs and Greve added five.
