Polk County's Marissa Twitty had 11 kills in Tuesday's win

Polk County opened Western Highlands Conference play Tuesday on a winning note, handing Owen a 3-0 defeat in volleyball action in Swannanoa.

The Wolverines posted a 25-12, 25-12, 25-19 win, their 20th straight in conference play, to improve to 3-0, 1-0. Owen dropped to 2-1, 2-1.

Kristen Hall finished with 14 kills and 17 digs to lead Polk County, with Marissa Twitty adding 11 kills and four aces. Emmie McDowell had 26 assists and four digs.

Rachael Davis finished with six digs, with Adair Edwards recording four kills and three digs.

Polk County is slated to make its home debut on Friday, hosting Madison in another WHC match. Both the varsity and junior varsity matches can be watched on the NFHS Network beginning at 5 p.m.
