Polk opens WHC volleyball play with 3-0 win at Owen

Polk County opened Western Highlands Conference play on a winning note Thursday, sweeping Owen 3-0 in a conference match in Swannanoa.

The Wolverines (8-3, 1-0) rolled to a 25-11, 25-12, 25-16 victory. Owen dropped to 0-4, 0-1 with the defeat.

Reagan Waddell had 12 kills, seven digs and two blocks for Polk County, with Kendall Hall adding seven kills and 10 digs. Grace Lauer finished with five digs and five kills while Mireya Roman had five digs and four blocks.

Kylee Mullis

Karla Olguin had 13 digs, Marissa Twitty had three blocks and Lauren Ketwitz finished with 12 assists.

In junior varsity play, Polk County earned a 2-1 win with a 23-25, 25-20, 25-14 victory.

Kylee Mullis had eight kills and six digs, with Landry Edwards finishing with eight digs and Emmie McDowell serving six aces. Rollins Carter had 10 digs and Rachael Davis had six digs for the Wolverines, who improved to 5-6 with the win.

Both Polk County teams return to action on Tuesday at home as Avery visits for Western Highlands Conference play.
