Polk County Middle rebounded Wednesday from its first loss of the season with to earn a hard-fought 2-1 at Apple Valley.
The Wolverines (3-1) handed Apple Valley its first loss of the year with a 25-21, 17-25, 25-21 victory. Apple Valley dropped to 3-1 with the defeat.
Polk Middle rallied from a 12-4 deficit to win the first set and then overcame the second-set loss to earn the win. Head coach Matthew Russell gave credit to both his players and assistant coach Donna Hall for the win.

“Coach Hall did a masterful job leading practice yesterday, and the focus she placed on defensive transitions really made a difference in the way the girls played today,” Russell said.
“I think today’s match was some of the best volleyball that we’ve played as a team all season. Our primary goal is getting better every day and I believe we’re headed in the right direction.”
Polk Middle also won the fifth quarter game, rallying from an early 6-1 deficit for a 25-12 win.
Polk Middle travels to Hendersonville on Monday before hosting Flat Rock next Wednesday.
