Polk County Middle School ran its winning streak to four games with a win Monday at Asheville Christian Academy.
The Wolverines earned a 25-15, 25-19 win to improve their record to 6-1 heading into Wednesday’s match at Brevard Middle School. Brevard also enters that match with a 6-1 record and knocked off defending Blue Ridge Middle School Conference champion Rugby earlier this season.
“ACA is much improved from our last match against them at the preseason jamboree, but I and the girls expected us to have a better effort against them,” said Polk Middle head coach Matthew Russell. “We had a tough practice Tuesday focusing on communication, movement and pressure situations and I hope it pays off in (Wednesday’s) game against Brevard.

“We beat them the first time around but we aren’t taking them lightly. We know they beat Rugby this season and that’s always a tall task.”
The Wolverines had pushed their winning streak to three last week with a 25-10, 25-12 win at Flat Rock
“The girls played great and serves were on,” Russell said. “Grace Lauer ran off eight points in a row while serving including four aces.”
