Polk Middle romps past Apple Valley to remain in tie for East lead

Polk County Middle continued its dominant run through its Blue Ridge Conference schedule Thursday, sweeping Apple Valley Middle in straight sets.

The Wolverines (10-1) extended their winning streak to two matches with the 25-7, 25-12 win on their home court, thoroughly controlling the opening set before pulling away late in the second frame for the victory over the Knights (2-8).

Polk Middle set the tone early, dominating the first set with crisp passing and aggressive net play. The second set proved more competitive initially, with Apple Valley keeping pace and trailing just 9-6. But following a timeout, the Wolverines found another gear, outscoring the Knights 16-6 down the stretch to close out the match.

The victory keeps Polk Middle firmly in contention for the Blue Ridge Conference East Division regular-season title as the Wolverines head into the final week of regular season play. Polk will look to maintain its momentum on Monday, traveling to Flat Rock Middle.
