Polk County Middle made its home-court advantage count Wednesday, rolling past Canton Middle 25-14, 25-6 in the opening round of the Blue Ridge Conference Tournament.
The Wolverines will get another chance to play in front of their home crowd next week, hosting Macon Middle on Wednesday in the tournament semifinals.
“The support in the gym was amazing,” Polk Middle head coach Kenny Hall said. “The cheerleaders, students, and of course the parents really brought the energy today.”

Polk steadily built control in the opening set, but Canton remained within 18-14 before the Wolverines slammed the door. Polk scored the final seven points to finish the 25-14 victory.
The second set was never nearly as close.
Tilly Harris opened the set at the service line and helped Polk race to an 8-0 lead. The Wolverines continued to pull away from there, holding Canton to just six points in the set and completing the sweep.
Hall also pointed to the play in the middle from Maddie Jolley and Adalyn Painter.
“Our middles Maddie and Adalyn had a really solid game today,” Hall said.
Polk Middle improved to 14-1 with the victory and moved one win away from reaching the BRC Tournament championship match.
“We are looking forward to getting a chance to play Macon here next week,” Hall said. “We’ll be ready for them.”
