Polk Middle rebounds, downs Waynesville Middle

Polk County Middle rebounded from a Monday loss with a sweep of Waynesville Middle in a Blue Ridge Conference matchup Wednesday in Waynesville.

The Wolverines (5-2) dropped their contest at Rugby Middle on Monday, but bounced back with a 26-24, 25-12 victory over the Mountaineers.

A tight first set saw Polk Middle inch ahead late to a 24-21 lead, only to see Waynesville put together three straight points to even the match at 24-24.

But Polk again moved to game point, then closed the set off a Beija Olivari serve.

The second set held much less drama as the Wolverines scored the first five points, then extended the lead to 13-1 and were never threatened thereafter.

Polk Middle returns home on Monday, hosting Apple Valley in a 4:30 p.m. match.
