
Polk County Middle earned a hard-fought 2-1 win Monday at Hendersonville Middle in Blue Ridge Conference volleyball action.
The Wolverines claimed a 19-25, 25-19, 15-9 victory to improve to 8-1 overall and remain tied with Rugby atop the BRC East Division standings.
Hendersonville Middle dropped to 5-4 overall.
The deciding third set turned in Polk’s favor during a Reeve Carroll serving run. Carroll began serving with the Wolverines leading 6-5 and helped Polk Middle surge to an 11-5 advantage. Hendersonville got no closer than five points the rest of the set.
The Bearcats grabbed a 4-1 lead in the second set after winning the opening set, but Polk Middle steadily fought back. Two long serving runs by Beiji Olivari helped the Wolverines take the set and force the third set.
Polk Middle is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Flat Rock Middle for a 4:30 p.m. match.
