Polk Middle downs Flat Rock ahead of big final week of season

Polk County Middle tuned up Wednesday for a big final week of the regular season, sweeping Flat Rock in Blue Ridge Conference volleyball action in Flat Rock.

The Wolverines rolled to a 25-15, 25-19 victory, improving to 9-1 overall, 7-1 in BRC East Division play.

Polk Middle travels to third-place Brevard Middle on Monday before hosting Rugby Middle on Wednesday in what could be a showdown for the East Division title, depending on Monday’s results.

The Wolverines grabbed a 10-3 lead early in the first set during a Cate Brown serving run and never trailed again, closing the set with a long Beija Olivari serving spell.

The second proved much closer, but Polk inched ahead late en route to the win.
