Polk County’s junior varsity volleyball team kicked off its 2025 campaign in dominant fashion Tuesday, sweeping R-S Central in straight sets on the road.
The Wolverines (1-0) earned a 25-11, 25-20 victory with a complete team performance led by sophomore Claire Lawrence, who powered the offense with eight kills and added seven digs on defense.
Freshman setter Camdyn Israel-Garrett orchestrated the Polk County attack, recording 13 assists while contributing across the stat sheet with a kill, an ace and six digs.

The Wolverines’ service game proved especially effective, with junior Ava Evans leading the way with six aces. Emily Nance added three aces to go along with her four kills and eight digs, while Olivia Kirk also recorded an ace in the victory.
Defensively, Polk County showed consistency throughout the lineup. Madalyn Varnadore tallied seven digs, matching Kirk’s defensive output, while Lorali Wing and Jaylynn Hempen contributed to the defensive effort with one dig each.
The Wolverines will look to build on the win when they return home Wednesday to face A.C. Reynolds. That match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
