Polk County’s junior varsity volleyball team showed its serving prowess Tuesday, recording 16 aces en route to a straight-set victory over Owen at Polk County.
The Wolverines (7-7) dominated both sets, winning 25-5, 25-17 to even their season record. The victory helped Polk County bounce back from an up-and-down stretch that had seen them go 2-3 in their previous five matches.
Claire Lawrence and Madalyn Varnadore led an efficient Polk County attack. Lawrence, a sophomore, delivered six aces and five kills while Varnadore posted a season-best six kills, including four in a commanding first set performance.

Olivia Kirk added four aces and six digs for the Wolverines, who displayed exceptional serving throughout the match with eight aces in each set. Emily Nance contributed across the board with two kills, three aces and six digs, while Camdyn Israel-Garrett led the offense with nine assists.
The win featured strong performances from several players exceeding their season averages. Ava Evans recorded two aces and three digs, while Jackie Sankey and Jaylynn Hempen showed promising defensive efforts with contributions in the dig column.
Lorali Wing added two kills and a block for the Wolverines, who will look to build on this momentum when they travel to Mitchell on Thursday for their next conference matchup.
