Polk JVs score first victory of season at Avery

Polk County’s junior varsity earned its first win of the season on Thursday, handing Avery a 2-0 loss in Newland.

The Wolverines took a 25-17, 25-12 victory to improve to 1-3, 1-1 in Western Highlands Conference play, ahead of Friday’s home opener against Madison. That game can be viewed live on the NFHS Network.

Elysia Smith had four kills, four assists and five digs for Polk County, with Cameron Ward providing four kills and seven digs. Elena Carroll had four kills, five aces and seven digs.

Zaelea Eller had nine assists, four aces and four digs, with Anna Jackson posting four kills and three digs. Annslee Kilgore added five digs.
