Polk JVs rebound with straight-set win at Madison

1 min read

The Polk County junior varsity volleyball team bounced back from a midweek setback in emphatic fashion Thursday, dispatching Madison 2-0 to improve to 9-9 on the season.

The 25-11, 25-15 victory came just one day after the Wolverines fell 2-0 to West Henderson, making the quick turnaround all the more impressive for a squad that has alternated between wins and losses over its last five matches.

Sophomore Emily Nance powered Polk County’s attack with seven kills. Setter Camdyn Israel-Garrett led the offense with 15 assists while anchoring the defense with seven digs. Claire Lawrence added four kills and six digs.

The Wolverines’ serving game proved particularly effective. Sophomore Madalyn Varnadore delivered three aces while also contributing two kills and three digs. Nance added two aces of her own.

Lorali Wing chipped in four kills and two digs while Olivia Kirk, another sophomore, posted eight digs and recorded a kill.

The Wolverines return to action Monday when they travel to face Asheville Christian Academy, looking to build on Thursday’s momentum.
