Polk County sweeps Franklin in playoff opener

Polk County began its pursuit of a state 2A volleyball championship Saturday, sweeping Franklin in a first-round match at Polk.

The Wolverines rolled to a 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 win,improving their record to 18-7 and advancing to a second-round match on Tuesday. Polk will host West Stanly, which defeated Parkwood 3-0 on Saturday. The Colts improved to 22-5 with the win.

Ashley Love had 13 kills and seven digs, with Reagan Waddell adding 11 kills, seven digs and four aces. Addie Lynch had eight kills, Kendall Hall had 19 digs and Savannah Ross had 32 assists.
